Kapalgnosis is the debut full-length album by Dhaka-based death/thrash trio Orator, released on February 19, 2013 through French underground imprint Armée de la Mort Records. It is the band's second overall release, following the 2010 EP Dominion of Avyaktam and a 2011 live demo. The three-piece lineup on the record consists of Skullbearer (Amit) on vocals & guitars, Vritra Ahi on guitars & bass, and Mephistopheles on drums. The album spans ten tracks across approximately 42 minutes, with the death metal weight markedly increased over the thrash metal foundation of the EP, and features blast-beat-driven percussion throughout alongside mid-death growls and high-pitched shrieks from Skullbearer. Lyrically, Kapalgnosis draws on Aghori Tantric occultism, Left Hand Path ideology, and Qliphothic gnosis — themes rooted in antinomian South Asian spirituality rather than Western Satanism. Orator have cited Merciless, Possessed, and Sadistic Intent as primary reference points; the album also shares the death/thrash-with-Eastern-mystical-lyrical-framing territory occupied by Singapore's Rudra. The album was issued on CD limited to 300 copies, with a subsequent gatefold LP edition also pressed to 300 copies. Track 8, "Bestial Death," is a cover of Merciless. The album received a single review on Encyclopaedia Metallum, scoring 90%, and circulated primarily through the European and Asian underground tape & mailorder network.
