Realms of Exquisite Morbidity, the 2021 debut full-length by Malignant Altar, was released December 10th via Dark Descent Records. The Houston, Texas quintet formed in 2018 and issued two demos prior. Lineup: Wilson Prevette — vocals, Beau Beasley — guitars (ex-Insect Warfare), Joshua Bokemeyer — guitars, Mat Aleman — bass, Dobber Beverly — drums. Recorded and mixed by Dobber Beverly, mastered by Arthur Rizk. Cover art by Lucas Korte. Stylistically draws from cavernous and old-school death metal with ties to Incantation, Immolation, Mortiferum, and Hyperdontia. Lyrical themes focus on occultism, darkness, and horror. 33:40 runtime across six tracks; released on CD, LP (various colors), cassette, and digital with no bonus tracks or covers. Underground reception was largely positive with strong anticipation from the demos, positioning it as a notable debut in the murky death metal scene.
