Consuming Impulse (stylized as Consvming Impvlse) is the second studio album by Dutch Pestilence, released December 25, 1989 (Europe January 9, 1990) via R/C Records (Roadrunner sub-label). It marks the final album with vocalist/bassist Martin van Drunen and the band's shift from thrash-influenced debut to heavier, more atmospheric death metal.

Lineup: Martin van Drunen — vocals, bass; Patrick Mameli — guitars; Patrick Uterwijk — guitars; Marco Foddis — drums.

Recorded in 1989 at Music Lab Berlin and produced by Harris Johns. Front cover drawing by Squeal. The album features a raw, crunchy production that emphasises crushing riffs and nightmarish atmosphere over the speed of the debut.

It stands alongside Death's Leprosy, Morbid Angel's Altars of Madness, Obituary's Slowly We Rot, Sepultura's Beneath the Remains, and Autopsy as a key late-'80s death metal release, with some doomy sections drawing Celtic Frost comparisons. Lyrical themes focus on bodily decay, dehydration, suffocation, trauma, and existential horror.

Original formats: CD, LP, cassette. No bonus tracks on initial pressings; later reissues (including 2023 Agonia remaster by Satanic Audio) include demos and live material. A music video was produced for "Out of the Body", a fan favourite alongside "Dehydrated". Inducted into Decibel Magazine's Hall of Fame in 2013; AllMusic awarded 4.5/5 stars.
