Notes
Hallucinations is the debut full-length by Germany’s Atrocity, released on October 15, 1990 through Nuclear Blast Records. The lineup was Alex Krull on vocals, Mathias Röderer and Richard Scharf on guitars, Oliver Klasen on bass, and Michael Schwarz on drums.
The album was recorded and mixed in June/July 1990 at Morrisound Recordings in Tampa, Florida, with Scott Burns credited for production, engineering, and mixing, Tom Morris for engineering, and Markus Staiger as executive producer. Its sound is early technical death metal: abrupt tempo changes, riff-dense guitar writing, tightly segmented song structures, busy bass movement, and harsh vocals framed by a dry Morrisound production. The cover artwork uses H.R. Giger’s Hommage an S. Beckett I.
