Hailing from Bay, Laguna, Philippines, Nullification emerged in May 2021 and by June had already written, recorded, and produced their debut full-length. Released January 14th, 2022 via Personal Records (CD, 500 copies) with additional cassette editions through Mouth of Madness Tapes and Metal Choice Cut Records, Kingdoms to Hovel was tracked in a home studio setting in Laguna, with guest lead solos from Ray Brouwer (Ancient Death, Matriphagy) recorded remotely in Walpole, Massachusetts.
Sonically, the album is a deliberate time capsule to 1990–92 death metal, grafting the thrash-derived aggression of Demolition Hammer and Benediction onto the cosmic, syncopated brutality of Morbid Angel (Gateways to Annihilation in particular). The production is dry, physical, and slightly ragged — the snare cracks like a nail gun, the guitar tone is cutting yet raw, and the performance carries a palpable garage-level urgency. The cover art by Ov Exvn Infernvz is an overt homage to Morbid Angel's Gateways to Annihilation, signaling the album's allegiance unambiguously.
